To race in the new DTM Trophy championship is a fantastic opportunity for a young driver like Ben, who is aiming to prove himself on the best and most highly regarded platform possible. Racing on the same weekend as DTM in a car he already has lots of experience in makes perfect sense, this is the reason BMW head hunted Ben to be the driver for the team, FK Performance Motorsport, in 2020.
The calendar features many exciting twisty circuits that promote great racing, one of the tracks is a street circuit which will be an entirely new experience for Ben, but something he is very much looking forward to.
Here's what Ben had to say when announcing his drive today :
" I'm very excited to announce my drive for 2020, I will be racing in the new DTM Trophy championship with FK Performance Motorsport. I’d like to thank BMW and FK Performance Motorsport for the trust and support in helping me to secure a seat in this exciting new championship. I’m really pleased to be back racing in the BMW M4 GT4, it’s a car I had a lot of success with in 2018 and I feel personally I have improved as a driver since that season. I’m looking forward to tackling an entirely new calendar of circuits I haven’t raced at yet, while on a great platform supporting the DTM championship. I would also like to thank my current sponsors for their continued support as without them I would not be on the grid. "
With the current situation that Coronavirus has made, the calendar has had to be rescheduled to the second half of 2020. Our season is planned to start in mid July, we are very hopeful this will happen. All 6 race weekends have been rescheduled, so if all goes to plan we will see a full seasons racing.
